- 3 April – President Mokgweetsi Masisi threatens to send 20,000 elephants to Germany, after the nation considered raising stricter limits on elephant hunting trophies. President Mokgweetsi Masisi stated that hunting was important to contain the elephant population, needed because Botswana was dealing with overpopulation of elephants.[1]
- 12 June – MMG Limited, a Chinese mining company, announced that they will invest 700 million USD into the Khoemacau copper mine to double production in copper.[2]
